Gender Matters LIVE
Trainer-led course content
Course Summary
Gender Matters is a one-day programme aimed at employees at all levels and of both genders. The course uses participative exercises, case studies, experiential learning and discussion to explore a number of themes relating to the different treatment of men, women and transgender people in the workplace.
We examine the provisions of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, the Equal Pay Act 1970, and the Gender Recognition Act 2004, and identify where and why inequalities still exist. We explore how men and women are channelled into gender-dominated occupations, leading to inequality of pay and opportunity.
We identify the causes and nature of gender-based discrimination looking at issues such as pregnancy, maternity, family care, and gender reassignment. We investigate the assumptions and attitudes which lead to sexual harassment and how this can be eliminated. And we discuss the different contributions that men and women make in the workplace, and how organisations and individuals benefit from a mixed gender workforce.
Who should attend
HR managers, diversity specialists, trainers and advisers, senior managers, operational managers and general employees. Gender Matters has been developed to suit a wide audience; choose from ‘Train-the-Trainer’, ‘Operational Managers’ or ‘Other Staff’ versions according to your specific business need.
